Good Morning

Image

Picture taken at 7:30am, after I decided to type this up. I have been up for a couple hours but I am still wearing my pj’s. Finally heard someone else moving around in the house about 7:40…must be my sister-in-law.

Anyway I have already had 2 cups of coffee, a blueberry bagel and a banana. I will probably go get a 3rd cup  of coffee soon and grab my blueberry Greek yogurt. Actually I should go jump in the shower soon. Yes today’s picture was taken before I washed my hair.

Today is Sunday. Nothing special planned for today. Probably just a quiet & boring day at home. Might be a good day to organize my paperwork for all my up-coming Dr. visits and the welfare office and the Social Security office.

Good To The Last Bite

Now lets face it…I love to eat; but then who doesn’t? It’s one addiction that you can’t quit cold turkey because you need food in order to live. There are tons of arguments about what kind of food to eat in order to live better though.
I don’t always choose the best food around. This morning I walked to the employee cafeteria to have an omelette for breakfast. Their special for today was “corn-beef hash & eggs”. Now how the heck exactly is corn-beef hash made??? I don’t know but it has never looked very appetizing to me.

I bought some snacks to bring home…of course snacks from that place are never healthy. I got a Kit-Kat candybar, a package of 6 little Hostess donuts, a cinnamon roll & Banana.

Then after lunch-time,I went up to our General store to get a 3 apples for $1.57, 2 oranges for $1.19, 1 container of yogurt for .67, a frozen peach pie(mini single-serving size) for $1.22, and package of 8 hamburg buns $4.17…and if I had realized that 8 buns would cost that much then I would not of bought them. Guess that should teach me to check prices better.
But at least I checked out the prices for yogurt before buying it. Our store has a few new brands that I have been curious about but I ain’t paying almost $2 for a small container of yogurt just because its made in Iceland, and the greek yogurt isn’t much cheaper then that.

Now I got thinking about my old Weight Watchers group this morning. I was allowed to have 29 points a day. Technically it didn’t matter where the 29 points came from as long as I didn’t eat more points then I was allowed. So if I wanted to eat 29 points worth of Kit-Kat bars. Actually if I figured out the points correctly…the 1 candybar I had today was worth 6 points, and my mini peach pie was worth 10 points. So I ate over 1/2 my points with just 2 items.

Seeing as fresh fruit & raw veggies are worth zero points,I will be better off sticking with my apples, oranges & baby carrots.

Lazy, Off Day and Breakfast

I have been working with the international students for so long that saying its my “off day” sounds more normal then saying its my day off. So, for my off-day, I had a late breakfast. I finally decided to get my rice cooker out again to cook brown rice & Birdseye frozen veggies. (broccoli, corn & red peppers) Who says that you have to eat cereal & eggs for breakfast? I only used 3/4 cups of rice with the whole bag of veggies and it took me about 2 hours to eat it all.

Well the wind was so loud that I woke up around midnight, but did take a nap this afternoon. Not sure if the dreary weather or my breakfast made me tired. Its been chilly all day, but I made sure to walk up to the rec center for my weight-watchers meeting. Tomorrow there is a possiblity of rain & SNOW. If the weather is awful tomorrow then I won’t be going to the gym either.

I only lost “.8″ pounds this week and we had a little discussion on breakfasts at the meeting. Most of us there try to have something everyday for breakfast even if its just a smoothie. In our weekly booklet that we get every week, there is a recipe for “Creamy Scrambled Eggs with Scallions & Tomatoes” for 3 points that looked interesting and now trying to figure out how to do it in a microwave seeing as I have no stove. Also wondering if I can subtract a point if I leave out the light cream cheese.

Just found this on the weight watcher website:
Ingredients
EGG WHITE OMELETE IN MICROWAVE 1 POINT
2 item(s) egg white(s), beat with a fork in a microwave deep dish
1 slice(s) fat-free hard or semi-soft cheese, break in small pieces and add to egg white
1 serving(s) tomatoe of vegetable of your choice

Instructions

beat egg white and add cheese and vegetable. Put in microwave for 30 seconds to more until done. Rises in the container so be sure its big enough not to overflow.

I seem to remember the saying to eat like a king at breakfast, a prince for lunch, and a pauper for dinner. Which means breakfast should be the biggest meal which makes sense because then you will have all day to wear-off the calories. So I would need more then the above 1- point breakfast to satisfy me.

Today’s Breakfast

Not sure why my co-workers don’t like eating at the employee’s cafe. I like going in for breakfast. Today I had coffee, peach yogurt, rye toast, breakfast potatoes and an omelette. I got spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms & bell peppers inside the omelette today. I held off on the cheese for a change. Got all this for $3.66.

I walked over to E-Cafe instead of taking the free shuttle too. Its not very far so it didn’t take long.
Now it’s time to do some chores before I walk over for a “Guest Hospitality” class later this afternoon.

3 more weeks

Are you wondering what’s going on…what’s so special in 3 weeks? Well let me tell you because I am really excited about it. I am like a kid at Christmas-time and yes I am crossing days off my calender.

My 25 year old son is hopping on the Greyhound bus in NH on March 17th (day after my birthday), and should arrive in Flagstaff,AZ on March 20th. He will be moving up to the Grand Canyon. His new job won’t actually start until April 4th. He is getting here early so he will have time for hiking and just learning the ropes around the park.
Seems like I remember he used to like running (before he broke his ankle), so maybe he will get me in the habit of running, or just going to the gym.

Ok, so I have today & tomorrow off from work. I need to do laundry and organize my closet.  I’m sure I still have plenty of stuff in boxes that I can throw out in the trash…stuff I have not seen (used or needed) for a year. He has already sent me boxes of his stuff in the mail; so he won’t have to carry everything around the greyhound bus stations….which is why I need to get offline now and  re-organize my closet.

Well this morning I had a “naked juice-mighty mango” flavor that I had brought home from work yesterday. Well I won’t be getting them very often anymore. Even though it tastes good. I checked on the weight-watchers site and it seems that 1 whole bottle of juice is 8 points. That’s more points then what I normally have for a breakfast.
